The Oregon Supreme Court has just ruled that almost all of the Republican senators in the state are banned from running for reelection. This ruling means that 90 percent of Oregon’s Republican senators are essentially being kicked out of the chamber.
At the moment, 57 percent of Oregon’s Senate seats are held by Democrats, and 37 percent are held by Republicans. The remaining 7 percent are held by Independents.
And since the Oregon state Senate doesn’t have something akin to a filibuster, this means in practical terms that the minority Republicans can do nothing.
