2, Facts Matter: Beware of Toxic Chocolate: Heavy Metals Found in Major Brand Names

According to a new study Consumer Reports study, many of the chocolate brands that Americans buy from the supermarket contain high levels of toxic metals—including things like cadmium and lead.

These researchers were looking into some of the most popular brands, the ones that are very likely in your cupboard right now: things like Hershey’s, Dove Chocolate, Trader Joe’s, and so on.

The researchers here were looking specifically at dark chocolate, which is a little bit ironic considering many people choose dark chocolate over alternatives like milk chocolate because of the supposed health benefits: including anti-oxidants and the fact that dark chocolate has less sugar.

However, for many years now, the chocolate industry has been grappling with a certain problem—that heavy metals are difficult to remove during the production process, and secondly, metals like lead are introduced into the food during manufacturing.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSant has just signed a new bill into law that will authorize the death penalty for child rapists within his state.

The new bill is called HB 1297, and it overwhelmingly passed the Florida legislature last month. In the Florida House, it passed 95–14, and in the Florida Senate, it passed 34–5.

And now that it’s officially on the books, this new law will allow those individuals who have been found guilty of raping children under the age of 12 to be sentenced to execution.

This death sentence does not require a unanimous jury decision. What this will mean in practice is that in the state of Florida, a prosecutor will only need the approval of 8 out of 12 jurors to be able to go ahead with a sentence of capital punishment.

3, Truth Over News: Corporate Media Have Become Political Operatives, Messaging on the Government’s Behalf

We’re at a frightening point in time. The media, which is supposed to serve as a government watchdog, is now operating hand in glove, or even worse, at the behest of a government with whom it is supposed to maintain an adversarial relationship. The purpose of traditional media is to check and challenge what our government is telling us, to operate on the assumption that the government is inclined to lie to the American public, and to uncover those lies. But today’s Corporate media has completely forsaken that role and is now openly messaging on behalf of the government—at the government’s direction and in open opposition to the best interests of American citizens. Our nation’s media has become the unquestioning propaganda arm of the intelligence community and the larger Washington establishment.

4, The Beau Show: Woke Late-Night TV Shows Shut Down

Screenwriters for TV and film have begun to strike as their contracts ended. The strike will affect the late-night four: Fallon, Kimmel, Colbert, and Myers. Other shows that will have to halt production are “Real Time” with Bill Maher, “Last Week Tonight” with John Oliver, and the weekend favorite “Saturday Night Live.” These shows could be affected for multiple weeks, but the late-night ad revenue has been declining for some time.

There may be several reasons for this, but one has to do with the woke content being out of touch with viewers. This strike would be a good time for writers to step out into the public and find out what people actually think and find funny. Then, when the writers return, they should breathe some fresh life into the shows for which they write.
